Hard Core Model
In the case of a 'hard core' repulsive model in which each molecule or atom consists of a hard core with an infinite repulsive potential, insertions in which two molecules occupy the same space will not contribute to the average. In this case the insertion parameter becomes
where is the probability that the randomly inserted molecule of species will experience and attractive or zero net interaction; in other words, it is the probability that the inserted molecule does not 'overlap' with any other molecules.

Famous quotes containing the words hard, core and/or model:
“Many older wealthy families have learned to instill a sense of public service in their offspring. But newly affluent middle-class parents have not acquired this skill. We are using our children as symbols of leisure-class standing without building in safeguards against an overweening sense of entitlementa sense of entitlement that may incline some young people more toward the good life than toward the hard work that, for most of us, makes the good life possible.”
—David Elkind (20th century)
“For books are more than books, they are the life
The very heart and core of ages past,
The reason why men lived and worked and died,
The essence and quintessence of their lives.”
—Amy Lowell (18741925)
“There are very many characteristics which go into making a model civil servant. Prominent among them are probity, industry, good sense, good habits, good temper, patience, order, courtesy, tact, self-reliance, many deference to superior officers, and many consideration for inferiors.”
—Chester A. Arthur (18291886)
