Company History
Steve Orenstein founded Wicked Pictures in 1993, with help from Brad and Cynthia Willis, after developing an interest in creative aspects of film production while a partner in his previous adult company, X-Citement Video. During its first year, Wicked won industry awards and Orenstein signed Chasey Lain as the first "Wicked Girl". The second Wicked Girl, Jenna Jameson, signed in 1995. Under Wicked's promotion, Jameson became the only winner of AVN Awards for best new starlet, best actress, and best sex scene in the same year.
During its first year Wicked Pictures won industry awards including best video feature and best director for the comedy, "Haunted Nights," which starred future Wicked contract director Jonathan Morgan. Wanting an in-house producer, Orenstein hired Brad Armstrong, whose movies have won industry awards.
In 2000 Orenstein signed with California Exotic Novelties to produce adult toys with the Wicked Pictures name and designed with help from Wicked stars.
At the end of 2004 Wicked Pictures had 71 AVN nominations and in early spring 2005 Steve Orenstein signed David Stanley as another contract producer. The year ended with 62 AVN nominations. In 2006, Wicked signed Randy Spears as actor and director, and videographer/director François Clousot. The year ended with 102 AVN nominations, more than half for between three movies directed by Brad Armstrong: "Manhunters," "Curse Eternal," and "FUCK."
Wicked won the first high-definition Adult Video News Award for Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre in December 2006. The movie went on to win several AVN awards in 2007.
In October 2010 Wicked stopped production when an actor tested positive for HIV.
The studio agreed with Manwin to run its websites in December 2010.
Wicked Pictures' latest production is "The Rocki Whore Picture Show: An XXX Parody".
