Cyril Smith

Sir Cyril Smith, MBE (28 June 1928 – 3 September 2010) was a British politician. He represented Rochdale as a Liberal, later Liberal Democrat, Member of Parliament (MP) from 1972 until 1992. In 2012, following allegations of child abuse, the Crown Prosecution Service formally admitted Smith should have been charged with the sexual abuse of boys during his lifetime.
