White Rose Centre - Tenth Anniversary Competition

Tenth Anniversary Competition

On the tenth anniversary of the centre opening, 25 March 2007, the White Rose Centre (in conjunction with Real Radio) were running a competition entitled '10 seconds to win 10K'. The prize was won by a local resident who correctly guessed that there was exactly £10,793.52 secreted in a ball on display in the centre. The winning guess was based on the date of the anniversary in reverse.

Famous quotes containing the words tenth, anniversary and/or competition:

    Of Ickworth’s boys, their father’s joys,
    There is but one a bad one;
    The tenth is he, the parson’s fee,
    And indeed he is a sad one.
    No love of fame, no sense of shame,
    And a bad heart, let me tell ye:
    Without, all brass; within, all ass,
    And the puppy’s name is Felly.
    Horace Walpole (1717–1797)

    The second day of July 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more
    John Adams (1735–1826)

    Like many businessmen of genius he learned that free competition was wasteful, monopoly efficient. And so he simply set about achieving that efficient monopoly.
    Mario Puzo (b. 1920)
