White Knight (business) - White Squire

A white squire is similar to a white knight, except it only exercises a significant minority stake, as opposed to a majority stake. A white squire doesn't have the intention, but rather serves as a figurehead in defense of a hostile takeover. The white squire may often also get special voting rights for their equity stake.

Famous quotes containing the words white and/or squire:

    Soft are the hands of Love,
    but what soft hands
    clutched at the thorny ground,
    scratched like a small white ferret
    or foraging whippet or hound.
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)

    There now are no Squire Westerns as of old;
    And our Sophias are not so emphatic,
    But fair as then, or fairer to behold.
    We have no accomplish’d blackguards, like Tom Jones,
    But gentlemen in stays, as stiff as stones.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
