Famous quotes containing the words wheeler, peak and/or wilderness:

It has ever been since time began,
And ever will be, till time lose breath,
    That love is a mood—no more—to man,
And love to a woman is life or death.
    —Ella Wheeler Wilcox (1855–1919)

In the mountains, the shortest way is from peak to peak: but for that you must have long legs. Aphorisms should be peaks: and those to whom they are addressed, great and lofty.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

A township where one primitive forest waves above while another primitive forest rots below,—such a town is fitted to raise not only corn and potatoes, but poets and philosophers for the coming ages. In such a soil grew Homer and Confucius and the rest, and out of such a wilderness comes the Reformer eating locusts and wild honey.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
