International Competitions

The major international competitions in wheelchair rugby are Zone Championships, held in each odd-numbered year; World Championships, held quadrennially in even-numbered years (opposite the Summer Paralympic Games); and the Paralympic Games. In 2015 wheelchair rugby will make its debut at the 2015 Parapan American Games in Toronto, Canada.

The 5th World Wheelchair Rugby Championships were held in Richmond (part of Metro Vancouver), Canada from September 21-26, 2010. The 4th World Wheelchair Rugby Championships were held in Christchurch, New Zealand from September 12–16, 2006.
