The Western Ontario Hockey League was a junior ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada, sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association from 1969 until 2007. As of 2007, the league has become a division of the newly formed Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. For the 2007-08 season, the WOHL, the Mid-Western Junior Hockey League and Golden Horseshoe Junior Hockey League, operated as three divisional leagues in one league with separate but cooperative governing bodies. In 2008 the three leagues were dissolved and became divisions in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League under one governing body. In essence, this was the WOHL's final season.

Famous quotes containing the words western and/or league:
“So motionless, she seemed stone deadjust seemed:
She was too old for death, too old for life,
For as if jealous of all living forms
She had lain there before bivalves began
To catacomb their shells on western mountains.”
—Edwin John Pratt (18821964)
“He will deliver you from six troubles; in seven no harm shall touch you. In famine he will redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword. You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and shall not fear destruction when it comes. At destruction and famine you shall laugh, and shall not fear the wild animals of the earth. For you shall be in league with the stones of the field, and the wild animals shall be at peace with you.”
—Bible: Hebrew, Job 5:19-23.
