Western Canada Aviation Museum - Recovery and Restoration

Recovery and Restoration

The Museum has an active Restoration Department and has returned many bent and twisted aircraft to full display condition. A team of volunteers completed a full-scale replica of a Canadian Vickers Vedette Mark V (CF-MAG) aircraft in May 2002.

Current projects include the restoration of a Bellanca Aircruiser, Fairchild Super 71, Waco, and Harvard.

The Museum has facilitated the recovery of several aircraft, including the "Ghost of Charron Lake" - a Fokker Standard Universal that has taken more than 30 years to locate. It is currently in a recovery and retrieval phase, after which it will begin its restoration.

Famous quotes containing the words recovery and/or restoration:

With any recovery from morbidity there must go a certain healthy humiliation.
    Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936)

In comparison to the French Revolution, the American Revolution has come to seem a parochial and rather dull event. This, despite the fact that the American Revolution was successful—realizing the purposes of the revolutionaries and establishing a durable political regime—while the French Revolution was a resounding failure, devouring its own children and leading to an imperial despotism, followed by an eventual restoration of the monarchy.
    Irving Kristol (b. 1920)
