West Somerset Community College
The West Somerset Community College (sometimes abbreviated to WSCC and known informally as 'West Somerset') is a fairly large secondary school in Minehead, Somerset, England. It provides education for students aged 13 to 16 (school years 9–11) in the main school and 16 to 18 (school years 12–13) in the sixth form (West Somerset uses a three-tier school system). WSCC has had Technology College status for several years, meaning the College receives additional funding. In June 2011, the school became an Academy. The school has a partnership with a secondary school (Gymnasium) in Bünde, Germany.
The College recently gained a good Ofsted report, which stated that the College had 'a significant number of outstanding features' and most were 'good'.

Famous quotes containing the words west, somerset, community and/or college:
“Look for me all around you, for with Gods grace, I shall come and bring with me countless millions of Black slaves who have died in America and the West Indies and the millions in Africa to aid you in the fight for Liberty, Freedom and Life.”
—Marcus Garvey (18871940)
“Few misfortunes can befall a boy which bring worse consequences than to have a really affectionate mother.”
—W. Somerset Maugham (18741966)
“Populism is folkish, patriotism is not. One can be a patriot and a cosmopolitan. But a populist is inevitably a nationalist of sorts. Patriotism, too, is less racist than is populism. A patriot will not exclude a person of another nationality from the community where they have lived side by side and whom he has known for many years, but a populist will always remain suspicious of someone who does not seem to belong to his tribe.”
—John Lukacs (b. 1924)
“I had a classmate who fitted for college by the lamps of a lighthouse, which was more light, we think, than the University afforded.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
