West of England Main Line

The West of England Main Line is a British railway line that runs from Basingstoke, Hampshire to Exeter St Davids in Devon, England. Passenger services run between London Waterloo station and Exeter. Despite its historic title, this is not today's principal route from London to the West of England: Exeter is reached more quickly by the Great Western Main Line from London Paddington. South West Trains services do not call at St James Park railway station. At Salisbury, the line intersects with the Wessex Main Line.

Literature does not exist in a vacuum. Writers as such have a definite social function exactly proportional to their ability as writers. This is their main use.
    Ezra Pound (1885–1972)

There’s something like a line of gold thread running through a man’s words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself. It’s another thing, though, to hold up that cloth for inspection.
    John Gregory Brown (20th century)
