- The 301 is a service that was one of National Express West Midlands first showcase routes, known as the 'superline'.
- In 2003, a driver on the 301 service died, following a collision with a lorry. The bus involved was a MCW Metrobus (which was later scrapped). This at the time was an extremely rare working.
