History
The airline was established in 1955 as LBF-Eda Varken operating air taxi flights. The name was changed to Abal Air in 1982 and to West Air Sweden in 1992, in co junction with the new airline Time Air Sweden. It then converted to a cargo airline in May 1997 after discontinuing scheduled passenger services between Säve and Sundsvall. During 2006 West Air won a contract with the Norwegian Postal services rendering an expansion of 50% of West Air's capacity.
In October 2011, West Air Sweden, changed name to West Air Luxembourg, because high costs of having a Scandinavian AOC, and now West Air Luxembourg, former West Air Sweden, are all under one airline, with a AOC issued in Luxembourg. All planes who West Air Sweden had, is slowly getting LX- Registrations, and also all planes is transferred to the "new" West Air Luxembourg Operations. So all in all, West Air Sweden/SWN/PT is no longer existing.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“There is a constant in the average American imagination and taste, for which the past must be preserved and celebrated in full-scale authentic copy; a philosophy of immortality as duplication. It dominates the relation with the self, with the past, not infrequently with the present, always with History and, even, with the European tradition.”
—Umberto Eco (b. 1932)
“Yet poetry, though the last and finest result, is a natural fruit. As naturally as the oak bears an acorn, and the vine a gourd, man bears a poem, either spoken or done. It is the chief and most memorable success, for history is but a prose narrative of poetic deeds.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Properly speaking, history is nothing but the crimes and misfortunes of the human race.”
—Pierre Bayle (16471706)
