Welsh Surnames - Modern Revival of Patronymics

Modern Revival of Patronymics

Although the vast majority of Welsh surnames are now family names as in the rest of the UK, there has been a limited revival of patronymics in modern Wales, especially among Welsh speakers. Famous quotes containing the words modern and/or revival:

Most modern reproducers of life, even including the camera, really repudiate it. We gulp down evil, choke at good.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

I do not think a revival of business will be greatly postponed by [Samuel J.] Tilden’s election. Business prosperity does not, in my judgment, depend on government so much as men commonly think.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
