Well (play)

Well is a play about illness written by and starring Lisa Kron. Well made its world premier at the Joseph Papp Public Theater in New York City in 2004. The play was directed by Leigh Silverman and also starred Jayne Houdyshell as Lisa's mother, Ann Kron. The Public Theater production garnered "Best of 2004" lists for The New York Times among other publications. Well also went to the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco before making its Broadway debut at the Longacre Theater in March 2006. Both Lisa Kron and Jayne Houdyshell received Tony Award nominations for their acting roles. Despite almost universal critical acclaim, Well was not enough of a commercial success for Broadway and its run ended in May 2006. Well will be performed by the Huntington Theater Company in Boston, Massachusetts at the Boston University Theater in March 2007. It will be performed at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in their 2010 Season (running February - June, 2010).

It just completed a limited 32 performance run at the Apollo theatre in London starring Natalie Casey as Lisa Kron and Sarah Miles as her mother, on January 24, 2009.
