Renovation and Expansion of Heritage Center

The Heritage Center is building a $14 million 19,000-square-foot (1,800 m2) performance and educational program space at the Weeksville site. Its new performance and programming space, which will also include a café and library and is being financed almost entirely by city money, will extend Weeksville’s offering to a broader spectrum of the community. The Heritage Center plans to increase the number of visitors from the roughly 7,500 who visit annually to about 50,000.

Famous quotes containing the words renovation, expansion, heritage and/or center:

Forgetfulness is necessary to remembrance. Ideas are retained by renovation of that impression which time is always wearing away, and which new images are striving to obliterate. If useless thoughts could be expelled from the mind, all the valuable parts of our knowledge would more frequently recur, and every recurrence would reinstate them in their former place.
    Samuel Johnson (1709–1784)

Artistic genius is an expansion of monkey imitativeness.
    W. Winwood Reade (1838–1875)

Flowers ... that are so pathetic in their beauty, frail as the clouds, and in their colouring as gorgeous as the heavens, had through thousands of years been the heritage of children—honoured as the jewellery of God only by them—when suddenly the voice of Christianity, counter-signing the voice of infancy, raised them to a grandeur transcending the Hebrew throne, although founded by God himself, and pronounced Solomon in all his glory not to be arrayed like one of these.
    Thomas De Quincey (1785–1859)

My center is giving way, my right is in retreat; situation excellent. I shall attack.
    Ferdinand Foch (1851–1929)
