History

Originally known as Hyperlink, then as hyperlink-interactive, WTG was acquired by Cable & Wireless in 2000. WTG remained a subsidiary of Cable & Wireless until its sale in February 2007 at which time it became an independent organisation. It is a UK company based in Hammersmith. It is known for building and operating systems such as Impact Nominal Index and was voted most efficient technical agency in the New Media Age 100 for 2008.

One of the most successful projects in WTG's recent history was their involvement in the online version of the 2011 UK Census, working in collaboration with Lockheed Martin and Cable & Wireless.

WTG also ran the Coalclaims site on behalf of Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR). This was the biggest personal injury scheme in British legal history and possibly the world, settling around 10,000 claims a month at their peak for ex-miners in the UK. Over 760,000 claims are registered and £3.9 billion in compensation has been paid to date.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

In history as in human life, regret does not bring back a lost moment and a thousand years will not recover something lost in a single hour.
    Stefan Zweig (18811942)

There is a constant in the average American imagination and taste, for which the past must be preserved and celebrated in full-scale authentic copy; a philosophy of immortality as duplication. It dominates the relation with the self, with the past, not infrequently with the present, always with History and, even, with the European tradition.
    Umberto Eco (b. 1932)

In all history no class has been enfranchised without some selfish motive underlying. If to-day we could prove to Republicans or Democrats that every woman would vote for their party, we should be enfranchised.
    Carrie Chapman Catt (1859–1947)
