Opposition To Catholic Activism

In November 2009, Besen wrote an opinion piece in the San Francisco Bay Times arguing that the gay community has a "gigantic Pope problem", and that under the leadership of Benedict XVI, the Vatican has become an enemy of liberalism, modernity and LGBT rights. Famous quotes containing the words opposition to, opposition and/or catholic:

Commitment, by its nature, frees us from ourselves and, while it stands us in opposition to some, it joins us with others similarly committed. Commitment moves us from the mirror trap of the self absorbed with the self to the freedom of a community of shared values.
    Michael Lewis (late 20th century)

To die proudly when it is no longer possible to live proudly. Death freely chosen, death at the right time, brightly and cheerfully accomplished amid children and witnesses: then a real farewell is still possible, as the one who is taking leave is still there; also a real estimate of what one has wished, drawing the sum of one’s life—all in opposition to the wretched and revolting comedy that Christianity has made of the hour of death.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

Through my fault, my most grievous fault.
    [Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.]
Missal, The. The Ordinary of the Mass.

Missal is book of prayers and rites used to celebrate the Roman Catholic mass during the year.
