Famous quotes containing the word philosophy:
“I would love to meet a philosopher like Nietzsche on a train or boat and to talk with him all night. Incidentally, I don’t consider his philosophy long-lived. It is not so much persuasive as full of bravura.”
—Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860–1904)
“A philosopher once said, “Half of good philosophy is good grammar.””
—A.P. Martinich (b. 1946)
“This philosophy of hate, of religious and racial intolerance, with its passionate urge toward war, is loose in the world. It is the enemy of democracy; it is the enemy of all the fruitful and spiritual sides of life. It is our responsibility, as individuals and organizations, to resist this.”
—Mary Heaton Vorse (1874–1966)
