Washington Huskies Football - Bowl Games

Bowl Games

The Washington Huskies have a long history and tradition of playing in the Rose Bowl. The Huskies' 14 Rose Bowl appearances are second only to USC in the Pac-10 and third overall (behind USC with 30 and the Michigan Wolverines with 19). The Huskies' seven victories are also third behind USC (21) and Michigan (8). In addition, Washington is also in an elite group of only six schools to make back-to-back-to-back appearances in the Rose Bowl, a feat they accomplished in 1990-1992. The other schools are Ohio State and Michigan from the Big 10 and California, Stanford and USC from the Pac-10. Washington has won at least one Rose Bowl game in every decade since the 1960s. The Pac-8 did not allow a second bowl team from the conference until 1975.

Famous quotes containing the words bowl and/or games:

    Three wise men of Gotham
    Went to sea in a bowl;
    If the bowl had been stronger,
    My story would have been longer.
    Mother Goose (fl. 17th–18th century. Three wise men of Gotham (l. 1–4)

    Criticism occupies the lowest place in the literary hierarchy: as regards form, almost always; and as regards moral value, incontestably. It comes after rhyming games and acrostics, which at least require a certain inventiveness.
    Gustave Flaubert (1821–1880)
