In the first edition the length of the parcours was just 40.6 km, and not the normal, classic distance of 42 km and 195 metres.

The event usually takes place in the last Sunday of September. Entry fee in 2010 is €40 if paid well in advance. Although the main attraction is the marathon, since 2005 an ekiden marathon relay is also organized the day before the race.
