WAOW - Newscasts

Newscasts

WAOW broadcasts a two-hour morning show each weekday from 5-7 a.m. The station also produces newscasts at 5, 6, and 10 p.m. each weeknight. Unlike other ABC affiliates, WAOW does not air midday news during the week.

There are no actual news personnel staffed at WYOW's Eagle River office. However, there is a specific section on WAOW's website featuring local "Northwoods 34" branded headlines. Like all CW Plus stations in the Central Time Zone, WAOW-DT2 airs the nationally syndicated morning show The Daily Buzz on weekdays from 5 until 8.

In 2000, WAOW entered into a news share agreement with WFXS-DT (owned by Davis Television, LLC) resulting in a weeknight prime time newscast to debut. Known as Fox 55 News at 9, the broadcast features news anchor Nancy Yousef, meteorologist Tony Schumacher, and daily sports reports.

On June 19, 2011, WAOW became the market's second television outlet to upgrade local news to high definition. Included in the change was a redesigned set and updated graphics scheme.
