Walter Smith - After Management

After Management

On 14 June 2012 Walter Smith spoke out saying in a statement that he was leading a consortium offering a deal to buy Rangers after they had slipped into financial problems, resulting in administration and liquidation of the previous holding company. However, on 19 June 2012 the consortium lead by Smith withdrew their bid for the club.

On 11 November 2012 Smith returned to Rangers in a non-executive director role. Rangers Football Club announced the appointment of the former Rangers manager as non-executive directors to the Club’s board of directors along with Ian Hart. Both Smith and Hart are to take their place with immediate effect. Smith was quoted saying that "It is a great privilege to serve the club that means so much to me in the capacity of non - executive director".

This we take it is the grand characteristic of our age. By our skill in Mechanism, it has come to pass, that in the management of external things we excel all other ages; while in whatever respects the pure moral nature, in true dignity of soul and character, we are perhaps inferior to most civilised ages.
