Walking in London

Walking In London

London is a large but congested city. The public transport system is well developed and world-famous but operates at capacity, can be unpleasant to use and is relatively expensive. A congestion charge is made for motorists to enter central London during busy times. For these reasons and others, walking has become increasingly popular for both recreation and as a means of transport in the capital. In addition, London is relatively flat, not especially rainy despite tourist mythology, and is blessed with pavements on most roads.

Famous quotes containing the words walking and/or london:

    I do not find
    The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
    I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
    Thank you.
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)

    At length they all to merry London came,
    To merry London, my most kindly nurse,
    That to me gave this life’s first native source;
    Though from another place I take my name,
    An house of ancient fame.
    Edmund Spenser (1552?–1599)
