Walgreen Co., doing business as Walgreens, is the largest American drug retailing chain in the United States. As of January 31, 2012, the company operates 8,300 stores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. It was founded in Chicago, Illinois in 1901. Walgreens' headquarters are in the suburb of Deerfield.
