Wales at The 1934 British Empire Games

Wales at the 1934 British Empire Games was abbreviated WAL. They have competed in every edition of the Commonwealth Games.

Wales double their medal tally from the first games, but failed to take a gold medal.

Wales came 8th overall in the games.

Apparently Reg Thomas would have competed for Wales, but for English objections (he had competed for England at the 1930 British Empire Games).

Famous quotes containing the words wales, british, empire and/or games:

    I just come and talk to the plants, really—very important to talk to them, they respond I find.
    Charles, Prince Of Wales (b. 1948)

    In my experience, if you have to keep the lavatory door shut by extending your left leg, it’s modern architecture.
    Nancy Banks-Smith, British columnist. Guardian (London, February 20, 1979)

    So farewell hope, and with hope, farewell fear,
    Farewell remorse! All good to me is lost;
    Evil, be thou my Good: by thee at least
    Divided empire with Heaven’s King I hold,
    By thee, and more than half perhaps will reign;
    As Man ere long, and this new World, shall know.”
    John Milton (1608–1674)

    As long as lightly all their livelong sessions,
    Like a yardful of schoolboys out at recess
    Before their plays and games were organized,
    They yelling mix tag, hide-and-seek, hopscotch,
    And leapfrog in each other’s way all’s well.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)
