Sections and Schedule For Completion
As of April 2013, the Virginia Capital Trail was partially completed and in use, including the previously existing Colonial Parkway. Remaining sections were scheduled for completion in 2014.
- Colonial Parkway Phase (open in Williamsburg and along Colonial Parkway)
- Greensprings Phase (2.8 miles) - opened in 2006
- Chickahominy Phase (4.5 miles) - opened in 2007
- Sherwood Forest Phase (12.5 miles) – completion in mid-2014
- Charles City Courthouse Phase (8 miles) – opened in 2009
- New Market Heights Phase (10.5 miles) – completion in spring 2014
- Varina Phase (7.6 miles) – completion in September 2014
- Richmond Riverfront Phase, Section Three (1 mile) – completion in 2014
- Richmond Riverfront Phase, Section Two (3/4 mile) – completion in 2014
- Richmond Riverfront Phase, Section One (1 mile) – opened in 2010
