Video Pinball

Video Pinball is a dedicated video game console released in 1978 as another Atari Inc. coin-op to standalone home console translation, by bringing the game Breakout to home players. Bumper controllers on the sides or a dial on the front were used to control the games depending on the game selected. There were three game types: Pinball, Basketball, and Breakout.

The console is based on the single chip 011500-11/C011512-05 produced by Atari ("Pong-on-a-chip").

Famous quotes containing the words video and/or pinball:

It is among the ranks of school-age children, those six- to twelve-year-olds who once avidly filled their free moments with childhood play, that the greatest change is evident. In the place of traditional, sometimes ancient childhood games that were still popular a generation ago, in the place of fantasy and make- believe play . . . today’s children have substituted television viewing and, most recently, video games.
    Marie Winn (20th century)

They was givin’ me ten thousand watts a day, you know, and I’m hot to trot. Next woman takes me on gonna light up like a pinball machine and pay off in silver dollars.
Laurence Hauben, U.S. screenwriter, Bo Goldman, and Milos Forman. Randall McMurphy (Jack Nicholson)
