VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200

The VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 is a NASCAR Nationwide Series race that takes place at Darlington Raceway. It is one of three nationwide oval races held in non-short tracks to measure less than 300 miles, the other two being the Alliance Truck Parts 250 and Subway JalapeƱo 250.

The race's longtime sponsor Diamond Hill Plywood is based in Darlington, and is owned and operated by identical twins John and Jim Ramsey. Their grandfather Sherman Ramsey, who founded Diamond Hill Plywood, sold the land Darlington Raceway was built on to Harold Brasington, and is said to have requested one end (currently Turn 4) of Brasington's new track be built narrower to protect a minnow pond on his property. Synthetic oil manufacturer Royal Purple recently signed a multi-year deal to be the primary sponsor of this race beginning in 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words sport and/or hero:

Rabelais, for instance, is intolerable; one chapter is better than a volume,—it may be sport to him, but it is death to us. A mere humorist, indeed, is a most unhappy man; and his readers are most unhappy also.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The traditional American husband and father had the responsibilities—and the privileges—of playing the role of primary provider. Sharing that role is not easy. To yield exclusive access to the role is to surrender some of the potential for fulfilling the hero fantasy—a fantasy that appeals to us all. The loss is far from trivial.
    Faye J. Crosby (20th century)
