Third League
VfB Stuttgart II is one of the founding members of the recently established 3rd Liga. The 3rd Liga is the new third tier of German football. It sits below the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga. Earlier, when they were in the Regionalliga Süd, they did not have the option of promotion. All “B” teams can gain this privilege, by giving up their opportunity to participate in the DFB-Pokal.
