Production
The film is heavily inspired by The Bourne Identity novel(1980) written by Robert Ludlum, though the story deviates from Ludlum's plot in the second half of the movie. But the fact is 'The Bourne Identity' movie itself is released by 2002 which shows the advent knowledge of Kamalhassan-Pratap Pothan in making movies.Hindi actor Salim Ghouse debuted as villain Jindha and dubbed his own voice. Vetri Vizha is the first of two Tamil films made in 70mm format; the other was Amaran (1992). Kamal Haasan wore a false moustache throughout the film since he was filming Indrudu Chandrudu (Telugu) and Chanakyan (Malayalam) at the same time, in which both film required non-moustached roles.

Famous quotes containing the word production:
“An art whose limits depend on a moving image, mass audience, and industrial production is bound to differ from an art whose limits depend on language, a limited audience, and individual creation. In short, the filmed novel, in spite of certain resemblances, will inevitably become a different artistic entity from the novel on which it is based.”
—George Bluestone, U.S. educator, critic. The Limits of the Novel and the Limits of the Film, Novels Into Film, Johns Hopkins Press (1957)
“... if the production of any commodity necessitates the sacrifice of human life, society should do without that commodity, but it can not do without that life.”
—Emma Goldman (18691940)
“Just as modern mass production requires the standardization of commodities, so the social process requires standardization of man, and this standardization is called equality.”
—Erich Fromm (19001980)
