Versant currently markets three commercial object databases (OODBMS), “Versant JPA,” "Versant Object Database" and "Versant FastObjects". In addition, Versant offers the open source database "db4o".

  • Versant JPA is a JPA 2.0 compliant interface for its object database that includes a technical preview of an Analytics platform including Hadoop support. It is available as a server and SDK for use with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Versant Object Database is used primarily for complex Java, .NET and C++ applications, especially those with high concurrency and performance requirements and very large data sets. The Versant Object Database is available for use with the operating systems Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX and AIX and can be integrated in Java, .NET or C++ programs. Unlike in a relational database management system (RDBMS, e.g., Oracle), complex logical models can be directly stored, read and modeled as domain objects without having to model them first in relational tables.
  • "Versant FastObjects" is a developer-friendly, object-oriented alternative to a relational database for .NET persistence.
  • "db4o" is a lightweight, open source, easy-to-use native embedded object database for Java and .NET. db4o is 100% coded in Java and translated to C# by an open-source tool called Sharpen.

Famous quotes containing the word products:

The reality is that zero defects in products plus zero pollution plus zero risk on the job is equivalent to maximum growth of government plus zero economic growth plus runaway inflation.
    Dixie Lee Ray (b. 1924)

... white people, like black ones, are victims of a racist society. They are products of their time and place.
    Shirley Chisholm (b. 1924)

The measure discriminates definitely against products which make up what has been universally considered a program of safe farming. The bill upholds as ideals of American farming the men who grow cotton, corn, rice, swine, tobacco, or wheat and nothing else. These are to be given special favors at the expense of the farmer who has toiled for years to build up a constructive farming enterprise to include a variety of crops and livestock.
    Calvin Coolidge (1872–1933)
