Germany
In Germany, a driver is required to carry a vehicle licence containing vehicle owner data, technical specifications and car modifications. Additionally, each car has a registration plate sticker to indicate compliance with vehicle safety and emission standards that are to be checked regularly. While the vehicle licence is permanent, the sticker has to be renewed after a 1 to 3 year period, depending on the type and age of the vehicle.

Famous quotes containing the word germany:
“It took six weeks of debate in the Senate to get the Arms Embargo Law repealedand we face other delays during the present session because most of the Members of the Congress are thinking in terms of next Autumns election. However, that is one of the prices that we who live in democracies have to pay. It is, however, worth paying, if all of us can avoid the type of government under which the unfortunate population of Germany and Russia must exist.”
—Franklin D. Roosevelt (18821945)
“By an application of the theory of relativity to the taste of readers, to-day in Germany I am called a German man of science, and in England I am represented as a Swiss Jew. If I come to be regarded as a bĂȘte noire the descriptions will be reversed, and I shall become a Swiss Jew for the Germans and a German man of science for the English!”
—Albert Einstein (18791955)
“It is the emotions to which one objects in Germany most of all.”
—Franz Grillparzer (17911872)
