Van She - History

History

Van She began in 2005 when band members Nick Routledge, Matt Van Schie, Michael Di Francesco, and Tomek Archer all met through mutual friends at a club called Bang Gang in Sydney. In 2005 Van She released their self-titled, much hyped debut EP, Van She, on Modular Recordings including the single Sex City, which was in turn sampled by Crystal Castles on their album Crystal Castles (18 March 2008) – Lies Records / Last Gang Records. After touring with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, New Young Pony Club and playing shows with the likes of Daft Punk, Phoenix and Bloc Party, Van She released their first album, V in 2008, which debuted at number #10 on the Australian charts. The album was co-produced by Jim Abiss at Konk studios in London in 2007. In June 2009, they released a remixed version of V, called Ze Vemixes.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

    The custard is setting; meanwhile
I not only have my own history to worry about
But am forced to fret over insufficient details related to large
Unfinished concepts that can never bring themselves to the point
Of being, with or without my help, if any were forthcoming.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)

No one can understand Paris and its history who does not understand that its fierceness is the balance and justification of its frivolity. It is called a city of pleasure; but it may also very specially be called a city of pain. The crown of roses is also a crown of thorns. Its people are too prone to hurt others, but quite ready also to hurt themselves. They are martyrs for religion, they are martyrs for irreligion; they are even martyrs for immorality.
    Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936)

Certainly there is not the fight recorded in Concord history, at least, if in the history of America, that will bear a moment’s comparison with this, whether for the numbers engaged in it, or for the patriotism and heroism displayed.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
