Valley, Alabama

Valley is a city steeped in tradition in Chambers County, Alabama, United States. Originally book-ended on the Northern and Southern city limits by twin signs which declared, "Welcome to Valley, Alabama, Where people care and share," the signs no longer stand, but the spirit remains. Valley was incorporated in 1980 combining the four textile mill villages of Fairfax, Langdale, Riverview, and Shawmut. Located on Interstate 85 halfway between Montgomery, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia, Valley is 75 miles southwest of Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and 85 miles northeast of Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) in Montgomery. The city lies on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, the state border between Alabama and Georgia. The Kia Motors automotive plant is located 7 miles to the east on I-85. Valley is an "Alabama Community of Excellence", one of only eight in the state. It is the principal city of and is included in the Valley, Alabama Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Gainesville, GA-AL CSA Combined Statistical Area. The city has a sales tax rate of 10.00%.
