Uterus Transplantation - The Montreal Criteria For The Ethical Feasibility of Uterine Transplantation

In their paper entitled "The Montreal Criteria for the Ethical Feasibility of Uterine Transplantation" published in Transplant International, Ariel Lefkowitz, Marcel Edwards, and Jacques Balayla from McGill University developed a set of criteria deemed to be required for the ethical execution of the uterine transplant in humans. Famous quotes containing the words criteria, ethical and/or uterine:

We should have learnt by now that laws and court decisions can only point the way. They can establish criteria of right and wrong. And they can provide a basis for rooting out the evils of bigotry and racism. But they cannot wipe away centuries of oppression and injustice—however much we might desire it.
    Hubert H. Humphrey (1911–1978)

Our rural village life was a purifying, uplifting influence that fortified us against the later impacts of urbanization; Church and State, because they were separated and friendly, had spiritual and ethical standards that were mutually enriching; freedom and discipline, individualism and collectivity, nature and nurture in their interaction promised an ever stronger democracy. I have no illusions that those simpler, happier days can be resurrected.
    Agnes E. Meyer (1887–1970)

It is not menstrual blood per se which disturbs the imagination—unstanchable as that red flood may be—but rather the albumen in the blood, the uterine shreds, placental jellyfish of the female sea. This is the chthonian matrix from which we rose. We have an evolutionary revulsion from slime, our site of biologic origins. Every month, it is woman’s fate to face the abyss of time and being, the abyss which is herself.
    Camille Paglia (b. 1947)
