Fate

On 28 October 1971 the New Kent was sold to Union Minerals & Alloys Corporation for scrap, at the time she was based at Mobile, Alabama as part of the Reserve Fleet. On 24 July 1972 she was officially withdrawn from the Reserve Fleet.
