USS Albatross (MSC-289) - Return To Japan For Repairs

Return To Japan For Repairs

Tests and training occupied Albatross through 19 September at which time she got underway for another "Market Time" deployment. Albatross was assigned an area in the vicinity of the Phu Quoc Islands in the Gulf of Thailand. Her relief arrived on 7 November, and Albatross sailed to Kaohsiung for repairs to an inoperative air compressor system which hindered her maneuverability. The minesweeper reached Sasebo on 18 November for training and holiday leave. On 29 December 1966 she left Japan for another patrol in the South China Sea.

Famous quotes containing the words return to, return and/or japan:

And the Stranger will depart and return to the desert.
O my soul, be prepared for the coming of the Stranger,
Be prepared for him who knows how to ask questions.
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)

This spending of the best part of one’s life earning money in order to enjoy a questionable liberty during the least valuable part of it reminds me of the Englishman who went to India to make a fortune first, in order that he might return to England and live the life of a poet. He should have gone up garret at once.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I do not know that the United States can save civilization but at least by our example we can make people think and give them the opportunity of saving themselves. The trouble is that the people of Germany, Italy and Japan are not given the privilege of thinking.
    Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945)
