U.S. Route 9 in New Jersey - Route 9 BBS

Route 9 BBS

The Route 9 BBS, or bus bypass shoulder, are a part of the express bus system in Monmouth and MIddlesex counties. The road is used by New Jersey Transit's routes 63, 64, 67 to Hudson County, the 130, 132, 136, 139 to Port Authority Bus Terminal, and Academy Bus to Lower Manhattan. The bus lanes run for approximately 3-mile (4.83 km) in Old Bridge Township and are the first component of a planned 20-mile (32.19 km) BBS corridor into Monmouth and northern Ocean counties. An extensive analysis by consulting and planning firm Stantec released in 2010 includes recommendations regarding design, construction, and implementation of the BBS extension. The 2nd phase of the project would start at the project's southern end near the Lakewood Bus Terminal near Route 88. The third phase and final phase would connect the northern and southern segments passing though Freehold Township and proximate towns, where work would include some widening and deepening of the roadbed to handle bus traffic.

Famous quotes containing the word route:

The route through childhood is shaped by many forces, and it differs for each of us. Our biological inheritance, the temperament with which we are born, the care we receive, our family relationships, the place where we grow up, the schools we attend, the culture in which we participate, and the historical period in which we live—all these affect the paths we take through childhood and condition the remainder of our lives.
    Robert H. Wozniak (20th century)
