U.S. Route 9

U.S. Route 9 is a north–south United States highway in the states of Delaware, New Jersey, and New York in the United States. It is one of only three U.S. highways with a ferry connection (the Cape May – Lewes Ferry, between Lewes, Delaware, and Cape May, New Jersey); the other two being US 10 and Washington State Route 525 from Clinton, Whidbey Island to Mukilteo in Washington State. US 9 is signed east–west in Delaware and north–south on the rest of its route. The southern terminus of the route is in Laurel, Delaware at an intersection with U.S. Route 13, while the highway's northern terminus is at a junction with Interstate 87 in Champlain, NY, where the roadway continues north as the unsigned NY 971B, which ends in a cul-de-sac just short of the Canadian border.

Famous quotes containing the word route:

The route through childhood is shaped by many forces, and it differs for each of us. Our biological inheritance, the temperament with which we are born, the care we receive, our family relationships, the place where we grow up, the schools we attend, the culture in which we participate, and the historical period in which we live—all these affect the paths we take through childhood and condition the remainder of our lives.
    Robert H. Wozniak (20th century)
