UW Impact
Launched in 2010, UW Impact is a civic advocacy initiative organized by the private, independent, non-profit UW Alumni Association. Its purpose is to increase awareness and understanding of the value and impact of higher education and specifically the University of Washington. UW Impact provides opportunities for alumni and friends to take action in support of the University of Washington and higher education in general. It is funded by the UWAA and not at public expense. It does not represent the views of the university.

Famous quotes containing the word impact:
“Too many existing classrooms for young children have this overriding goal: To get the children ready for first grade. This goal is unworthy. It is hurtful. This goal has had the most distorting impact on five-year-olds. It causes kindergartens to be merely the handmaidens of first grade.... Kindergarten teachers cannot look at their own children and plan for their present needs as five-year-olds.”
—James L. Hymes, Jr. (20th century)
