The College of Engineering is composed of eight (8) departments, six of which are housed in the historic Melchor Hall along Osmeña Avenue in the U.P. Diliman campus. The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute has its own building along Velázquez Street in the Diliman Science Complex and Technology Incubation Park, while the Department of Computer Science (along with the College Library) moved into their own buildings near the EEEI building in early 2007.

Since its establishment, the College has produced twenty (20) graduates with U.P. Summa Cum Laude honors. The COE produced its first Summa Cum Laude graduates in 1920 (Justo Arrastia, B.S.C.E, and Tomas Padilla Abello, B.S.M.E.), and the most recent was in 2011. One of its notable Masters Degree graduate was Engr. Nelson G. Evangelista, MSCE, MBA, MSML who pursued his doctoral degree studies in management and leadership in the United States.

The College is the college of engineering in the Philippines with the most CHED Centers of Excellence at eleven (11). All of its degree-granting departments have been recognized as a Center of Excellence.

Famous quotes containing the words university of, university, college and/or engineering:

It is in the nature of allegory, as opposed to symbolism, to beg the question of absolute reality. The allegorist avails himself of a formal correspondence between “ideas” and “things,” both of which he assumes as given; he need not inquire whether either sphere is “real” or whether, in the final analysis, reality consists in their interaction.
Charles, Jr. Feidelson, U.S. educator, critic. Symbolism and American Literature, ch. 1, University of Chicago Press (1953)

The university is no longer a quiet place to teach and do scholarly work at a measured pace and contemplate the universe. It is big, complex, demanding, competitive, bureaucratic, and chronically short of money.
    Phyllis Dain (b. 1930)

I tell you, you’re ruining that boy. You’re ruining him. Why can’t you do as much for me?
S.J. Perelman, U.S. screenwriter, Bert Kalmar, Harry Ruby, and Norman Z. McLeod. Groucho Marx, Horsefeathers, a wisecrack made as Huxley College president to Connie, the college widow (Thelma Todd)

Mining today is an affair of mathematics, of finance, of the latest in engineering skill. Cautious men behind polished desks in San Francisco figure out in advance the amount of metal to a cubic yard, the number of yards washed a day, the cost of each operation. They have no need of grubstakes.
Merle Colby, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
