Societies and Sports Clubs
The union hosts many societies and sports clubs, which any student can join. All sports teams are supported by the union and the university. All sports team members require a Sports Card, available during freshers week and in The Hive, in order to play and represent the university.

Famous quotes containing the words societies, sports and/or clubs:
“It is fatally easy for Western folk, who have discarded chastity as a value for themselves, to suppose that it can have no value for anyone else. At the same time as Californians try to re-invent celibacy, by which they seem to mean perverse restraint, the rest of us call societies which place a high value on chastity backward.”
—Germaine Greer (b. 1939)
“It is usual for a Man who loves Country Sports to preserve the Game in his own Grounds, and divert himself upon those that belong to his Neighbour.”
—Joseph Addison (16721719)
“It is always a practical difficulty with clubs to regulate the laws of election so as to exclude peremptorily every social nuisance. Nobody wishes bad manners. We must have loyalty and character.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
