Ranking and Performance

The University of New South Wales is one of Australia’s leading research and teaching universities, ranked in the top 100 universities worldwide and renowned for the quality of its graduates.

UNSW is a founding member of the prestigious Group of Eight - a coalition of Australia’s leading research intensive universities.

Recognised as one of the heavyweights of Australian higher education, UNSW consistently scores highly in a range of national and international rankings.

UNSW has been ranked 85th in the 2012-2013 Times Higher Education World University Rankings - the only global university performance tables to judge world class universities across all of their core missions - teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The position puts UNSW in the top 5 of Australian institutions.

The University is ranked 52nd in the 2012 QS World University Rankings, which are based on six factors: academic and employer surveys, staff-student ratios, research citations and the proportion of international staff and students.

In 2011, UNSW was the first Australian university to be awarded five stars in the new QS Stars rating system, which measures performance against international benchmarks.

UNSW is the state’s top ranked university based on the 2010 Excellence in Research for Australia report, which evaluated research activity and quality in the country’s 41 higher education institutions. Nationally, UNSW was rated as “at, above or well above” world standard in all broad fields of research.

The AGSM MBA Program, delivered by the Australian School of Business, was ranked as the leading full-time MBA in Australia and 35th in the world in the Financial Times (UK) 2011 ranking of the top 100 global MBA programs. This is the 12th consecutive year the AGSM MBA Program has ranked in the top 100 MBA programs worldwide.

UNSW is recognized as the Australian university with the strongest links to industry, reflecting its focus on real-world research and innovative research partnerships. In 2010 UNSW again received the highest level of funding of any Australian university in Linkage grants from the Australian Research Council.

UNSW has scored the maximum five-star rating for nine key performance indicators in the 2013 Good Universities Guide. For graduate employment – getting a job, starting salaries and positive graduate outcomes – UNSW rated in the top group for all three measures. UNSW also achieved five-star results in student demand, research grants, research intensivity, staff qualifications and cultural diversity.

The Australian Graduate Survey 2011 shows UNSW graduates in high demand from employers. Our graduates are in the top 5% for median starting salaries, while our domestic postgraduates receive the highest median starting salaries when compared to domestic postgraduates from any other Australian university.

Famous quotes containing the words ranking and/or performance:

Falsity cannot keep an idea from being beautiful; there are certain errors of such ingenuity that one could regret their not ranking among the achievements of the human mind.
    Jean Rostand (1894–1977)

The value of old age depends upon the person who reaches it. To some men of early performance it is useless. To others, who are late to develop, it just enables them to finish the job.
    Thomas Hardy (1840–1928)
