University of Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band - Game Day Traditions

Game Day Traditions

On home football game days, the band rehearses for two hours in Memorial Stadium, beginning five-and-a-half hours before kickoff. A two-hour break follows. An hour-and-a-half before kickoff, the band meets in Westbrook Music Building in full uniform for warm-up and final instructions. Following is a free outdoor concert at Kimball Recital Hall and the traditional march to the stadium.

Famous quotes containing the words game, day and/or traditions:

One of life’s primal situations; the game of hide and seek. Oh, the delicious thrill of hiding while the others come looking for you, the delicious terror of being discovered, but what panic when, after a long search, the others abandon you! You mustn’t hide too well. You mustn’t be too good at the game. The player must never be bigger than the game itself.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)

“If Washington were President now, he would have to learn our ways or lose his next election. Only fools and theorists imagine that our society can be handled with gloves or long poles. One must make one’s self a part of it. If virtue won’t answer our purpose, we must use vice, or our opponents will put us out of office, and this was as true in Washington’s day as it is now, and always will be.”
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

I think a Person who is thus terrifyed [sic] with the Imagination of Ghosts and Spectres much more reasonable, than one who contrary to the Reports of all Historians sacred and profane, ancient and modern, and to the Traditions of all Nations, thinks the Appearance of Spirits fabulous and groundless.
    Joseph Addison (1672–1719)
