The College of Engineering houses some internal institutes and centers:
- Center for Research and Instruction in Technologies for Electronic Security
- Electronic Visualization Laboratory
- Energy Resources Center
- Manufacturing Research Center (joint with UIUC)
- Nanotechnology Core Facility
- Advancement of Smart Infrastructure Sensor Technology
Additionally, faculty participate in many university-wide centers, including:

- National Center for Data Mining
- Urban Transportation Center
