Organizational Structure

The organization and control of the University of Houston System is vested in its Board of Regents. The Board consists of a chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, and six other members. Every two years, the Governor of the State of Texas, subject to the confirmation of the Texas Senate, appoints three members to the Board of Regents. Each member serves a six-year term. Responsibilities for members are specifically listed in the bylaws of the Board of Regents.

The chair of the Board of Regents is Nelda Luce Blair, an alumna of the University of Houston. She was appointed to the Board in 2008, and will serve through August 31, 2013.

Famous quotes containing the word structure:

There is no such thing as a language, not if a language is anything like what many philosophers and linguists have supposed. There is therefore no such thing to be learned, mastered, or born with. We must give up the idea of a clearly defined shared structure which language-users acquire and then apply to cases.
    Donald Davidson (b. 1917)
