Development
Universe was based on a modified version of Enchantia's game engine (the most notable addition was the in-game text and dialogue system and the increase in the Amiga color palette). The interface is sometimes awkward as the user's actions do not register properly. The player might get stuck on occasion due to such bugs, or the program can unexpectedly exit at certain points in the game. There are two arcade sequences in the game, which can annoy some people. The scenes are carefully rendered in 256 colors, even on the standard Amiga, which many saw as one of the strengths of the game. There is (ambient style) MIDI background music, but no proper sound effects.
