United Kingdom Council For Psychotherapy - Objectives

Objectives

As of July 2012, according to its website, the UKCP's charitable objectives are as follows:

  • to promote the art and science of psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling for the public benefit
  • to promote research in psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling, and to disseminate the results of any such research
  • to promote high standards of education, training and practice in psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling
  • to promote the wider provision of psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling for all sections of the public.

As the national registering body for a unified profession, it acknowledges a multiplicity of psychotherapeutic approaches, and recognise this plurality as an asset. Maintaining and integrating quality assurance programmes across the field enables members of the public greater choice, accessibility, and safety when engaging with a UKCP registered psychotherapist.

Famous quotes containing the word objectives:

Along the journey we commonly forget its goal. Almost every vocation is chosen and entered upon as a means to a purpose but is ultimately continued as a final purpose in itself. Forgetting our objectives is the most frequent stupidity in which we indulge ourselves.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
