Uniforms of The United States Marine Corps - Physical Training Uniform

The Physical training uniform or PT uniform consists of one of the following pairs:

  • green nylon shorts and cotton t-shirt (shirts with unit logos can be authorized)
  • green sweatpants and sweatshirt with the Marine Corps emblem printed in black on the left chest and thigh
  • The green tracksuit with gold and scarlet "Marines" lettering and reflective trim was unveiled during a tour of Iraq in December 2007, by Commandant of the Marine Corps General James Conway. It began to be issued to Marines free of charge in February 2008 and will be mandatory possession by the end of FY 2010.

In addition, Marines can wear a watch cap and gloves in cold weather, or a hydration pack to prevent dehydration.

Famous quotes containing the words physical, training and/or uniform:

A separation situation is different for adults than it is for children. When we were very young children, a physical separation was interpreted as a violation of our inalienable rights....As we grew older, the withdrawal of love, whether that meant being misunderstood, mislabeled or slighted, became the separation situation we responded to.
    Roger Gould (20th century)

I’m not suggesting that all men are beautiful, vulnerable boys, but we all started out that way. What happened to us? How did we become monsters of feminist nightmares? The answer, of course, is that we underwent a careful and deliberate process of gender training, sometimes brutal, always dehumanizing, cutting away large chunks of ourselves. Little girls went through something similarly crippling. If the gender training was successful, we each ended up being half a person.
    Frank Pittman (20th century)

    The maples
Stood uniform in buckets, and the steam
Of sap and snow rolled off the sugarhouse.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)
